SEVEN UNIVERSITIES PROVIDE ACCESS FOR REVIEW OF MIDDLE GRADES READING MATERIALS

Middle Grades Reading Network

As Indiana middle grades schools seek to improve the reading skills of their students, time for reading classes has been added to student schedules.  Schools are supporting the work of their teachers by providing them with some of the many excellent reading materials that are available.  These materials are available for many different reading levels determined by teachers after reviewing the reading test results of their students.

Seven universities have established collections of middle grades reading materials and have made these collections available for review by reading teachers and administrators.  The collections are located at Ball State University, the University of Evansville, Indiana State University, Indiana University Southeast, Purdue University North Centraland the University of Indianapolis.

Materials available in the collections are from the following publishers: Continental Press, Curriculum Associates, Educators Publishing Services, Globe Fearon, Jamestown Education, Modern Curriculum Press, New Readers Press, Options, Phoenix Learning Resources, Sopris West Educational Services, Scholastic, SRA/McGraw-Hill, Steck-Vaughn, Teachers College Press, and Teacher Created Materials.
