READING MATERIALS AVAILABLE FOR LICENSED MIDDLE GRADES READING TEACHERS

It’s a safe bet that all teachers everywhere would welcome free reading instructional materials. Fortunately,  all Indiana middle grades reading teachers with an Indiana reading endorsement or reading license who teach two or more 0480-6, 0480-7, and/or 0480-8 reading courses, or two or more sixth grade reading courses in elementary schools are eligible to apply for free reading instructional materials.

School offices have catalogs from various publishers.  Materials are also available for review in collections at Ball State University, Indiana State University, Indiana University Southeast, IUPU Fort Wayne, Purdue University North Central, University of Evansville, and University of Indianapolis.  For information about visiting the collections, see <http://mgrn.evansville.edu/8w2006.htm>.

Funds will be provided for one reading program. The goal is for teachers to pilot various reading programs and share the results in NetWords so that others can learn about available middle grades reading materials.

Materials will be ordered by the Middle Grades Reading Network and sent directly to reading teachers.

The following information is required:  name, school, mailing address, type of reading license, reading classes taught, publisher, materials needed that will improve comprehension and/or vocabulary reading skills, and principal approval.

Requests will be handled on an individual basis.  For further information, contact Jack Humphrey at jh25@evansville.edu
