NEW YHBA BOOKS READY FOR MIDDLE GRADES READERS

The Young Hoosier Book Award Program was started in the 1974-1975 school year.  That year 4,681 students voted for their favorite book.  The program has grown over the years, and last year more than 73,000 students throughout the state voted for their favorite book.

All Indiana middle grades students should be encouraged to read the YHBA books.  Public libraries will have the books available this summer, so students can get a head start reading titles on the 2009-2010 list.  Be sure to display and promote the books to students and parents prior to summer vacation.
